John Fred & His Playboy Band

Today's pick is a funky beat-track from John Fred and his Playboy Band, the b-side of the wonderful bubblegumy "Judy In Disguise". Had this tune in my head for month, so I thought I pass it on.

The Cherokees - Minnie The Moocher

Today were going all the way to Australia. Their very own Cherokees have given Cab Calloways classic a jolly little R&B/Beat-treatment and made it a tad more danceable (in my opinion).

By the way: Is that an autograph on the label?

Manu Dibango - Big Blow

Allright? Here we go again after a while. Passed me course so I got some more time to post some more choons in future. Anyway, here a nice tune for a summers day.

Hear ya soon.

And here a little 12" remix: http://alldaythumbsucker.blogspot.com/2008/08/super-koumba-12-is-probably-re.html

Long time no hear. But here you go with some New Orleans Swamp-Funk by Dr. John. I'm off, "Watching the Dead" has just begun.

The Show Stoppers - What can a man do

I fished this choon out of a 50p bargain box, mainly because of the A-side "Ain't nothing but a House party", and was positively surprised when I turned it over and discovered this Stomper. A bit of a Four Tops sound-a-like but absolutely monster. Runs over and over again on me little PT01 since two weeks, so I thought I share.

Donnie Elbert - Do wat'cha wanna

I've been neglecting the pre-65 music a bit, so I thought it's time for some R&B today. B-side to the Twisted Wheel classic "A Little Piece of Leather", but well worth a play, too
