I've been neglecting the pre-65 music a bit, so I thought it's time for some R&B today. B-side to the Twisted Wheel classic "A Little Piece of Leather", but well worth a play, too

Honey Cone - When will it end
I'm pretty much fed up with my job at the moment, but I fortunately know that it will end in a few month time. Honey Cone on the other hand obviously don't know when it will end.
I tend to buy records on the Holland/Dozier/Holland labels Hot Wax and Invictus blindly, and have not been disappointed so far. This tune proofs my buying policy once again. Yer good olde HDH recipe for a burner record: Funny intro, driving beat, thumping bass, funny interlude. It always works.

Jimmy "Bo" Horne - It's your sweet love
After a long without any attempts to keep me in shape, I decided to treat me to some physical activity (except going to buy beer that is). So I dug out an old pair of trainers and went to a Locking class. Yes, Locking (Campbellocking to be anal), the ancient art of throwing your limps around to funky music. After I managed to crawl back home again, I tried to find some lockable music in my box, and that's what I decided upon.
Try it yourself, watch this first, and than boogie in your living room to Jimmy's choon.

The Vulcans - Dr. Spock
This synthesized version of King Stitts "Herbsman Shuffle" is by the Vulcans, actually a guy called Ken Elliot, who played Synth over Riddims from Trojans vaults. I found this one in Nudge Records, who have a big Reggae stock.
I don't know if it's just my weird taste but I really like this choon. It's something different and would make a nice change at Skinhead-Reggae-Dos, instead of playing the standard records to death.
King Curtis & The Kingpins - Pop Corn Willie
Alright. I'm about to lose my blog-virginity with this post so let's get it on.
I decided to start off with a bang. This track is 2:20 minutes pure funky soul explosion.
I bought this record along with some others in a (very) drunken state from a record dealer in a club. Good-natured as I am, I gave him 60 quid and my address, and the records actually arrived a few days later. Very trustworthy man that was.
King Curtis puts his porn-sax on top of a funky uptempo track, complete with a drummer who gets down like Animal from the Muppets and a nice break around 1:10. Don't try dancing to this one!
